A stamp seal carved from chalcedony or milky agate. The seal is decorated with a stylised bird facing the ground, but when the seal is rotated 90 degrees, the figure takes on the appearance of a standing draped man.

Iran, Sassanian, c. 5th Century AD

Size: 2 x 1.2 cms.

Very small chip from the edge of the seal, otherwise intact.

Ex. private collection, Winchester, UK. Acquired during the 1970's or 1980's.
