A small calcite amulet in the form of a stylised human head wearing a flat circular head-dress. The amulet is pierced through the top and back of the head so that it could be worn via a vertical suspension loop. Southern Mesopotamia, Jemdet Nasr culture, c. 3300-2900 BC Intact as shown in the photographs. Size: 1.4 x 1.2 cms Ex. Astarte Gallery, Grosvenor Square, London. Acquired during the 1970's or 1980's. We do not and will not trade in antiquities from the region of Mesopotamia which are not fully compliant with current UN sanctions. This item was a UK property prior to the first Gulf War.
