A micaeous grey stone axe head with a pierced centre and boat shaped profile. This type of axe was attached to  long wooden shaft so that it could be wielded with substantial force; although referred to as battle-axes its unclear whether these instruments were primarily used as weapons or tools.

Probably British, reputedly found in Sussex, 3rd Millennium BC

Size: 14.4 x 5 cms
