Syrian Bronze Age axe

£140

A bronze axe head with a pierced butt and broad cutting edge.  Both the butt and the cutting edge taper to a sharp edge and the wider body is flanked by squared-off sides.

A beautiful example of minimalist design reminiscent of a piece of modern sculpture.

Syria, 2nd Millennium BC

Some minor surface erosion and blade damage but in good condition overall

Size: 11.8 x 4.5 cms

Ex. private collection, UK. Acquired from Annie Trotter Ancient Art, London c. 1980's.
