Etruscan votive pottery half-head

£300

A moulded pottery votive depiction of a bisected male head. Half heads such as this were often placed against walls in tombs, perhaps to signify the ambiguity of partial presence in the after-life.

Etruscan, c. 5th Century BC

Some loss at neck area, general surface wear and chips as seen in the photographs.

Size: 9.3 x 6.8 cms

Ex. private collection, Florida, USA.
