An attractive and fine quality hollow moulded pottery head from a figure of a youth with curly hair contained under a close-fitting warrior's helmet.

Etruscan, 6th or early 5th Century BC

Size: 10 x 8 cms, 16cms including display stand.

Fragment as shown, a couple of bashes to the back of the head but no repairs.

Ex. collection: Alfred E. Mirsky, 1900-1974, USA. Professor Mirsky was a molecular biologist involved in the research of DNA. This item was part of the Rockefeller University collection from 1974, and sold in Christies New York for the benefit of Graduate Student Program in 2006.

Mounted on a turned wood base with an old collection label and a French or Swiss customs duty label on the underside.
