West Asian large calcite bead

A very large bead carved from veined grey calcite.

The bead is pierced with two parallel holes running the full length of the body and each side is decorated with incised lines. The surface is extremely smooth and tactile.

West Asia, 2nd or 1st Millennium BC

One corner chipped in antiquity.

Size: 4.7 x 3.3 cms
