A spectacular necklace strung with good quality cornelian and gold beads. The gold beads are of a rounded bi-conical form and typical of Mesopotamian gold-work, the metal is quite thick and extremely high carat. The cornelian beads represent an enormous variety of shapes including bi-conical, lentoid, spherical and disc shaped examples. The central bead is a large variegated and partially calcified cornelian, with traces of green copper oxide. Near East (Syria/Holy Lands) or Mesopotamia, early to mid 2nd Millennium BC Intact, with modern string and gold plated clasps, fully wearable. Size: 47 cms long when unfolded.
