A large pendant in the form of a scroll case, made from dark green glass. Pendants of this shape, often made in metal, were used to contain a small scroll which would hold a prayer or oath. These scrolls would be specific to the wearer and may relate to matters of health, wealth or fortune; such as wishing for an end to headaches etc etc. Roman, 2nd or 3rd Century AD One suspension loop lost otherwise intact Size: 4.9 x 1.9 cms Ex. private collection, Middlesex, UK.
