Christian Medieval gold cross

A splendid Christian gold cross decorated with cabochon inlays of polished green, blue and black glass. Each piece of glass is mounted in a secure collar setting and the arms of the cross are further embellished with hammered dots around the edges and an applied wire-work cruciform pattern to either side.

South East Europe or Western Asia Minor, late Medieval, c. 15th or 16th Century AD

Intact. Two of the cabochon glass inlays are cracked but are completely stabile. An absolutely beautiful piece of highly wearable jewellery.
