Pair renaissance gold earrings |
£400 |
|
A pair of European Renaissance period gold earrings with plain solid shanks terminating in very ornate pierced cage balls. The delicate and very finely worked finials consist of two rows of soldered oval rings separated at the centre by a solid band of "S" shaped scrolls. The end of each shank fits into the corresponding end of the hollow ball, thus disguising how they were fitted to the ear. Intact. Southern Europe, probably Italy, circa 16th Century AD. Size: approx. 2 cms each diameter. Ex. Private collection, London. Antiquities |Books |Ordering |Postage |Contact us |Email |Links |Shopping cart |Mailing list |Home
