Greco-Egyptian pottery alabastron

A pottery alabastron with a long body, pad base and a disc rim imitating similar vessels produced in stone.

Greek, probably from Egypt, 2nd or 1st Century BC

Part of rim lost otherwise intact as shown.

Size: 13.8 x 4.2 cms

Ex. collection: Ken Tullett, Dorset, UK; acquired 1970's/1980's. This item is part of a collection of several hundred antiquities accumulated over 50 years in London and the South Coast. Mr. Tullett frequently authenticated his purchases with the British Museum and kept notes on many items detailing where they were bought; where such references are available we will include details with the item when sold.
