£1000

A fine pottery lip cup (kylix) with a tall stemmed foot, two handles and an everted rim. The interior is glazed black apart from a stylised eye design on the tondo and fine red line around the rim; the outside is reserved and decorated with horizontal black bands.

Greek, Athens, late 6th Century BC

A small chip on the foot has been restored and the majority of one handle is restored (the crack visible in the images is at one end of this reconstruction). Otherwise the vessel is intact save for the wear and light chipping to the surface as seen in the photographs.

Size: 10.9 x 22.1 cms (including handles); diameter of bowl 16.4 cms.

Ex. private collection, Dorchester, Dorset, UK.
