Greek Corinthian decorated pottery aryballos

£60

A pottery aryballos with painted and incised decoration showing a goose with out-stretched wings.

Greek, Corinthian, 6th Century BC.

Rim partially lost, body repaired and general surface wear as seen in the photographs. Although the body is discoloured, the incised lines are well preserved and the decoration can be studied relatively easily.

Size: 6.2 x 5.9 cms

Acquired in the late 19th Century. Probably collected by the archaeologist, architect and author Arthur E. Henderson FSA, FRIBA, RBA.
