A wooden mummy mask with well carved details and attractively proportioned features.

This item is part of a collection of wooden masks found during the 1930's around the Bahariya Oasis. This region has sprung to prominence in recent years as the find-spot of the burial ground now known as "The Valley of the Golden Mummies".

Part of a substantial collection of antiquities acquired during the 1930's by a German archaeologist and architect. This is one of several wooden masks collected around the Bahariya Oasis c. 1938/1939. The masks have been part of several public exhibitions in both Germany and Switzerland, including Gottingen, Basel, Essen and the Konstanz Museum. Our website will be selling these masks for the first time since their discovery.
