Egyptian fine faience beaker with cartouches

£625

A fine lavender blue glazed faience beaker decorated in black with a double cartouche. This pair of cartouches are probably impossible to read but the short prenomen and spacing of the inscription strongly suggests that they relate to one of the pharaohs by the name of Thuthmosis.

Egypt, New Kingdom, late 2nd Millennium BC

Intact with light wear to much of the surface; one side slightly compressed (where the pale brown patch is shown in one of the photographs).

Size: 5.5 x 4.2 cms

Ex. private collection, New York, USA.
