Egyptian bronze Osiris figure

£650

A heavy and solid cast bronze figure of the god Osiris with moulded and chased details. The god is shown in typical standing mummiform stance, holding the crook and flail and wearing the Atef crown surmounted by a Uraeus snake to the front.

Osiris was associated with the rites of the Dead and their passage to the next life.

It is unusual to see a back pillar on this type of bronze figure, decorated with a  series of diagonal incisions.

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 730-332 BC.

Intact.

Size: 10 x 3 cms

Provenance: Ex: private UK collection, London.
