Egyptian fine faience ibis amulet

£385

An extremely fine quality dark blue and green glazed faience amulet depicting an ibis and representing the god Thoth.

The minutae of detail in this amulet are quite exceptional and the decoration around the legs and feet is so fine that even some of the claws are undercut from the base, the inside of the legs is modelled with a naturalistic skin pattern.

Egypt, mid to late 1st Millennium BC

Tip of beak lost, a small loss between the front of the feet.

Size: 3.4 x 2.5 cms

Ex. private collection, UK; acquired in London during the early 1980's.
