Cypriot Late Bronze Age grey slip ware pottery jug

A pottery jug with a globular body, single handle and broad mouth terminating in a pinched lip. The surface is covered in a plain grey slip coating without any other apparent decoration.

Cyprus, Late Bronze Age, c. 1600-1050 BC

Intact apart from light wear and encrustation.

Size: 19 x 14.3 cms

Ex. collection: Jorgen Jacobsen, Bornholm, Denmark. Acquired while on UN duty with the Danish peace-keeping forces on Cyprus (Dancon X/XI) between October 1968 and October 1969. This item is part of a large collection of Cypriot antiquities acquired by Mr Jacobsen from antiques shops in Cyprus during his one-year stay on the island.
