Geometric Period painted pottery mug

A buff pottery small mug shaped vessel with a single handle and flaring rim.

The body of this piece is decorated with grey painted lines and two thick bands of red. The handle is painted with a ladder motif and the base is painted with a lovely grey Maltese type cross.

Cypriot Early Iron Age (Geometric Period) 1050 - 750BC

Handle and rim repaired, sherd lost from rim.

Size: 7.1 x 6.5 cms

Provenance. Ex: Private UK collection. Collection number P441 inked to one side of shoulder.
