Cypriot Middle Bronze Age pottery jug

A pottery jug with a spherical body and long neck, the surface is covered in a red slip and shows traces of painted linear decoration.

Cyprus, Middle Bronze Age, c. 1900-1650 BC

Most of the rim and handle lost, general wear and damage as seen in the photographs. Some modern plaster around the rim and handle.

Size: 20.7 x 13 cms

Ex. collection: Jorgen Jacobsen, Bornholm, Denmark. Acquired while on UN duty with the Danish peace-keeping forces on Cyprus (Dancon X/XI) between October 1968 and October 1969. This item is part of a large collection of Cypriot antiquities acquired by Mr Jacobsen from antiques shops in Cyprus during his one-year stay on the island.
