A sizeable and fine quality pottery jug with a round body and tall neck with a long curved handle. The surface is covered in a grey/brown slip and extensively painted with groups of purple wavy lines arranged in parallel bands.

Cyprus, Middle Bronze Age, c. 1900-1650 BC

Some loss around the rim and a crack at the top of the handle; areas of accretion or loss to the painted surface as seen in the photographs.

Size: 30 x 19 cms

Ex. collection: Jorgen Jacobsen, Bornholm, Denmark. Acquired while on UN duty with the Danish peace-keeping forces on Cyprus (Dancon X/XI) between October 1968 and October 1969. This item is part of a large collection of Cypriot antiquities acquired by Mr Jacobsen from antiques shops in Cyprus during his one-year stay on the island.
