|
Sorry this item has sold A good quality burnished red and black pottery jug with finely incised decoration consisting of various abstract bands as well as a pair of a-symmetric rectangles on either side of a frontal pointed lug. The incised decoration on this vessel is substantially finer than most examples of its type. Cyprus, end of Early Bronze Age, c. 2400-2200 BC There is a small flared rim which is missing from the spout and the neck has been carefully filed down to conceal the loss (in recent times). About 60% of the upper part of the handle has been professionally restored. A small patch of surface erosion to one side of the lower body. Size: 16.5 x 11.5 cms Ex. private collection, Bath, UK.
