Roman bronze dolphin

A substantial cast bronze handle in the form of a dolphin. The twisted wire around the tail would probably have been set into a piece of furniture and the body of the dolphin would have formed one side of a swing handle.

Roman, circa 1st Century AD

Fragment as shown, attractive green patina.

Size: 9 x 5.2 cms

Ex. private collection, UK. Reputedly found in Britain.
